From the Cloud Nine HQ here in Canmore, Banff and Lake Louise Alberta, the area is home to more than 2500+ sport (rock) climbs, and holds hundreds of options for multi-pitch climbing routes at nearly every level of difficulty, and is a wildly popular destination for rock climbers of all abilities every summer.

Cloud Nine Guides offers a wide range of rock climbing instruction and single day rock climbing experiences open to all ability levels. Looking to take a skills course? In partnership with the largest indoor climbing facilities in Alberta - The Calgary Climbing Center, our Rock Climbing Skills Partner Programs are among the most popular learn to climb programs here in the Bow Valley providing training to hundreds of students each summer. The courses are designed to provide a natural progression in getting the skill sets needed to take climbers from the gym to the crags, and climbing safely outdoors. Whether you're starting from scratch, or you've already got some experience, our Rock Climbing Courses are designed to let you jump in at your level and progress confidently. Day Rock Climbing "Experience" Programs

Our "Experience" level trips are best suited to parents and kids, families or groups of friends and travelers and corporate groups wanting to try out and experience Rock Climbing during their time here in Canmore, Banff & Lake Louise.

We offer both full day and half day programs, and venues can be as close as a 10-15min drive from the townsites. All trips Guided by IFMGA & ACMG Certified Mountain & Rock Guides with decades of professional experience, all equipment included in your booking with us.

You will see a wide range of ages and abilities while were out, and it's not uncommon that we host kids as young as 6-7 years old all the way up to those in their early 70's with wide ranges of  physical capabilities. Our Guides will find you just the right amount of physical and mental challenge to suit. 

These programs are all about fun first, incredible new experiences, and just the right amount of challenge, all while experiencing beautiful spaces through a vertical lens - jump in and book your tour with us this summer!

Rock Climbing Courses

Our Outdoor Rock Climbing Series Courses are provided in partnership with our friends at The Calgary Climbing Center. A long standing partnership we're proud of that has the unique advantage of incorporating both indoor and outdoor training elements into select courses.

Designed to provide essential skills to help you move from the climbing gyms to outdoor climbing venues, these skills courses start with our L1 - Outdoor Lead Lesson, designed to teach the essentials for leading and cleaning sport (rock) climbs outside at the crags. The series then progresses forward to build on these skills with the offering of the L2 - Multipitch Sport Systems Course, L3 - Rock Rescue Systems Course and the L4 - The Trad Rock Systems Course. Combined, this progression will leave you with the essential foundations of rock climbing skill sets - designed to help you safely explore and gain experience in most rock climbing venues available here in Canmore, Banff and Lake Louise and further abroad.

The courses in the Outdoor Rock Climbing Series begin most years in early to mid April, and continue every weekend through the summer into early October, and are offered (depending on the course) in Calgary, Canmore, Banff and Lake Louise.
