ITINERARY

• 0800hrs - You will meet your guide at the pre-planned meeting point, most likely the trailhead or parking of the chosen rock climbing venue, emailed to you a week in advance by our program managers. There, we will sign the waivers and get the gear out of the vehicles
   
• 0810hrs -  A short walk to your climbing location, which can vary from 10-30 minutes walking time depending on the location of choice
   
• 0830hrs - Once arrived, your guide will coach you through the basics of putting your harness on and where you should wear your helmet
   
• 0840hrs - You will have a quick explanation of the technique needed to climb, along with the belaying technique
   
• 0850hrs - Your guide will then set up some routes for you and then we'll climb
   
• 0900hrs - 1300hrs (Half Day)  - Commence your climbing experience
  0900hrs - 1600hrs (Full Day)  

Throughout the day, your guide will be there to offer tips and advice and ensure that you have the best experience possible. They will be able to readjust routes, so if you want to try something more challenging then they will be able to set something up for you. 

There will be opportunities throughout the day for lunch & breaks to ensure that you have sufficient energy levels to climb.

Logistics to consider ahead of your Rock Climbing Day in Canmore / Lake Louise:

• ACCOMMODATION:

  • Students are responsible for obtaining a National Park entry pass.

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT

The following is a Gear, Clothing, and Equipment list. You will be required to arrive with these items on course.

*NOTE* - All climbing equipment is provided by us here at Cloud Nine Guides, unless you would like to bring your own. Please inform us of your shoe size when booking, so we can find a fitting pair of rock shoes for you.

• Water Bottle or Collapsible Water Bladder (1L)
• Rock Shoes
• Sunglasses
• Sunscreen (min. SPF 50+)
• Camera, batteries, memory cards & accessories
• Daypack (at minimum, 1 x 35-40L backpack. In addition a 30L option may be appropriate for some days)

ESSENTIAL CLOTHING

• Jacket
• Gore-Tex Jacket (for wet weather days only)
• Gore-Tex Pant (for wet weather days only)
• Buff Style Neck Tube / Headband
• Sun Hat (ball cap or full brim bucket style)
• Thin Insulated Gloves (multiple pairs [3 min] for rope work)

OTHER

TRIP CANCELLATION & INTERRUPTION INSURANCE

Is this coverage required?

• For Canadian Residents, coverage is suggested but not required to register.
• For Non-Canadian Citizens, coverage is suggested but not required. It is strongly suggested that your policy includes Emergency Medical Coverage, unless you carry an alternative policy which will respond in the event of medical emergency.

WAIVER - Release of Liability & Indemnity Agreement

Prior to booking you will be required to acknowledge that you have been provided a copy of our Waiver of Liability Agreement for your review. All participants, or their legal guardians wishing to participate on any Cloud Nine Programs, must acknowledge that they have been presented this document, have read it in its entirety, and understand the agreement being entered into by signing. While there is no obligation to enter into this agreement with us, it is a condition of our service provision.
