Come and experience a day of Guided Ice Climbing with our ACMG and IFMGA Certified Mountain and Alpine Guides at Cloud Nine Guides.
This program is a perfect adventure day out for groups of friends, kids and families, or corporate groups who want to experience a wild and fun new activity during their time in Banff, Canmore and Lake Louise.
Bookings require a minimum of 4 participants, and are confirmed based on our Guides availability. Gather your crew of 4+ and get the best bang for your buck on any of our Ice Climbing Programs.

NOVEMBER TO APRIL
ITINERARY
- 0800hrs - You will meet your guide at the pre-planned meeting point, usually we meet at Gear Up so that mountaineering boots can be collected & waivers can be signed. We will bring the rest.
- 0810hrs - A short walk to your climbing location, this can vary from 10-30 minutes walking time depending on the location of choice.
- 0830hrs - Once arrived your guide will coach you through the basics of putting your harness & crampons on.
- 0840hrs - You will have a quick explanation of the technique needed to climb, along with the belaying technique.
- 0850hrs - Your guide will then set up some routes for you and then we'll climb.
- 0900hrs - 1300hrs (Half Day) - Commence your climbing experience.
0900hrs - 1600hrs (Full Day)
Throughout the day your guide will be there to offer tips and advice and ensure that you have the best experience possible. They will be able to readjust routes so if you want to try something more challenging then they will be able to.
There will be opportunities throughout the day for lunch & breaks to ensure that you have sufficient energy levels to climb.

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT
The following is a Gear, Clothing and Equipment list. You will be required to arrive with these items on the course.
- Water Bottle or Collapsible Water Bladder (1L)
- Mountaineering boots (half or fully crampon-compatible; see logistics for rental options)
- Sunglasses
- Sunscreen (min. SPF 50+)
- Camera, batteries, memory cards & accessories
- Daypack (at minimum, 1 x 35-40L backpack. In addition a 30L option may be appropriate for some days)
- Trekking poles

Is this coverage required?
- For Canadian Residents, coverage is suggested but not required to register.
- For Non-Canadian Citizens, coverage is suggested but not required. It is strongly suggested that your policy includes Emergency Medical Coverage, unless you carry an alternative policy which will respond in the event of medical emergency.
WAIVER - Release of Liability & Indemnity Agreement
All participants, or their legal guardians wishing to participate on any Cloud Nine Programs, must acknowledge that they have been presented this document in advance of programming, have read it in its entirety, and understand the agreement being entered into by signing. While there is no obligation to enter into this agreement with us, it is a condition of our service provision.
