The Women's Beginner Mountaineering Course

Canada's Foremost Beginner Mountaineering Course; Designed and Instructed by our Female Guides
We offer this 6 Day Introduction to Mountaineering Skills Course from our home range in the Canadian Rockies and the mountaineering meccas of the Lake Louise Groups and Columbia Icefields.

What this course offers, what differentiates the course from other providers, and why book this course with Cloud Nine Guides:

  • Our program covers both Snow & Ice Climbing Techniques, as well as Alpine Rock Climbing Techniques.
  • We go CLIMBING! Our course provides the beginner skill sets required for not just walking up snow covered summits - It provides the basic skills required for accessing technical climbing terrain, as well as teaching skills to manage semi technical and glaciated approaches.
  • Competitive pricing
  • All courses are taught by IFMGA & ACMG Certified Guides who have professional, and international experience in Mountain Guiding and Instruction worldwide.
  • All Inclusive - All Trip Food, Guiding/Instruction, Technical Equipment* and Accomodation

Included in the week are 2 Classic Big Peak Ascents! Objectives in the Columbia Icefields Area include Mount Athabasca, Mount Andromeda while the Alpine Rock objectives in the Lake Louise area include routes such as Eisenhower Tower on Castle Mountain. These ascents are outstanding parts of your week in their own rite, as well as give the new skills you're learning context in their application.

Our Guides work closely with you prior to each field day to teach proper route planning techniques and preparation, interpretation of weather products, risk and hazard management, alternate route planning, and group management. If students are willing, they can expect to have plenty of opportunity to lead throughout the trip - something we actively encourage while being closely coached by your Guides.
