Required Items for our Mount Assiniboine Ascents



Technical Equipment


Cloud Nine will provide all technical gear for the trip, including harnesses, helmets, ropes, carabiners and slingage, protection etc. If have you're own and would like to bring it, please discuss this with our office or your guide prior to the trip.



Clothing List

  • Base Layers Top and Bottom - Merino Wool or Synthetic. No cotton please.
  • Mid Layer Top and Bottom - ~200 weight wool or sythetic garments
  • Socks - Wool blend. Smartwool, Bridgedale, Icebreaker etc. are all suitable (2 x extra pairs).
  • Softshell Pants and Jacket
  • Gore-Tex Pants and Jacket
  • Goose Down or Synthetic Insulated Belay Style Parka
  • Gaiters (optional + generally not needed)
  • 1 Pair Heavyweight Gloves (no mitts please)
  • Up To 2 Paris Lightweight Dexterous Climbing Gloves
  • Buff Style Neck Tube
  • Warm Hat (must fit under a helmet)


Equipment List

  • Sleeping Bag - We suggest a 0˚C / 32˚F bag to help keep weight down. 3 season bags are just fine as well.
  • Climbing Pack - 40-50L capacity is ideal. The less straps and gak on the outside the better.
  • Mountaineering Boots - The best boots for Mount Assiniboine during the summer months are a light alpine boot. The La Sportiva Trango line of boots is what we suggest and most of our guest come wearing.
  • Sunglasses
  • High SPF Sunscreen
  • Lip Balm with High SPF
  • Headlamp with Fresh Batteries
  • 1 Liter Water Bottle - We suggest colapsable nalgene bottles
  • Blister Kit - If you are in new boots, not accustom to mountain boots or just generally prone to blisters please come prepared for them. Your guide will carry a supply of bandages but are primarilly carried as a back-up.
  • Camera
  • Trekking Pole - Small and Collapsable
  • Ear Plugs
  • Toiletries
  • iPod / iPad or other lightweight, highly versitile, entertainment.
